Deshiz is a deshi media platform. We write about the online services, shops, and deals that make life in Bangladesh a little easier, and a lot faster.

It started with a trip we did not have to take

Back in 2011 or 2012, our founder Istiak Rayhan needed one small piece of information from a courier company. The plan was simple: get on the road, sit in traffic, reach their office, ask the question, come back.

Before leaving, he opened their website just to check. The information was not there. But a few helpline numbers were. One phone call later, he had his answer.

That trip would have taken at least an hour. Instead it took two minutes.

That small moment stuck. If one phone number listed on one website could save an hour, imagine what happens when every service in the country is properly online, and when people actually know how to find it.

Bangladesh is a slow moving country in the most literal sense. We lose hours in traffic every single day. Not every problem can be solved by the internet, but a surprising number of them can.

A short domain and a big idea

In 2018, Istiak was hunting for a short, memorable domain name. Deshiz.com was available. He registered it the same day.

At that time, something exciting was happening around us. Bangladeshi startups were popping up everywhere, and most people had never heard of them. So the first mission of Deshiz was simple: introduce these deshi services to deshi people. One of our early posts on Bangladeshi startups did exactly that, and readers showed up in numbers we did not expect.

We brought in part-time writers, covered different topics, and the site grew.

The quiet years

Then reality caught up with us.

We never figured out how to monetize Deshiz properly, and without that, it was hard to keep a team writing regularly. So Deshiz became a side project. We kept publishing, just slowly. A post here, an update there. The site never died, but it never really ran either.

Why we came back in 2026

Starting to publish blog posts seriously in 2026 sounds like a strange decision. AI can answer almost anything now. Why write?

Here is the honest reason.

Ask an AI assistant about the best courier service in Bangladesh, or which local hosting company is actually reliable, or how to get free delivery on Rokomari, and the answer gets thin very fast. That is not because AI is bad. It is because there is very little good, verified, up to date content about deshi things on the internet for it to learn from.

That gap is exactly where we already live.

We have years of posts on Bangladeshi online services sitting on this site. So we decided to do two things: go back and update the old ones properly, and start publishing new ones again. Every list gets rechecked. Every coupon code gets tested at checkout before we publish it. When a shop shuts down or quietly stops a service, we say so.

The goal is the same as it was in 2018, just with higher stakes. If the best information about Bangladesh is not online, it does not exist, not for readers and not for the machines they are increasingly asking.
